Marijana Josipovic-Mirkovic

Marijana Josipović – Mirković was born in Novi Sad. She received her basic music education at the “Stevan Hristić” music school in Bačka Palanka in the class of Ladislav Hajnc. After finishing it, she chose music as her life’s vocation and continued her education at the music highschool “Isidor Bajić” in Novi Sad, which he finished as the best student of the generation in the class of Mirjana Grlić. She completed her basic studies at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad in three years in the class of Laura Levai – Aksin, MA, in whose class she obtained the title of Master of Arts – flautist in 2009 and in whose class she is currently in her final year of doctoral studies. 

There are numerous awards that were awarded to her as a flautist during her studies, as a soloist and as a chamber musician. Based on top results and achievements, she was awarded the “Angel of Novi Sad” charter. She was awarded twice by the University of Novi Sad. At the proposal of the Academy of Arts, as an exceptional student, she was awarded scholarships from the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Norway. During her studies, she was a scholarship holder of the Foundation for the Development of Scientific and Artistic Youth of the Republic of Serbia.

She continued to nurture her great love for chamber music in a large number of chamber ensembles. She has been actively performing with her husband in the chamber duo „Unico” (flute – accordion) for 20 years.

There are numerous concerts in the country and abroad where she performed as a soloist and chamber musician. She also participated in the radio and television shows.

As an orchestral musician (flautist and piccoloist), she performed in the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra and the Southeastern European Symphony Orchestra (Sarajevo).

While still a student, in 2002 she was invited to teach the flute at the elementary music school “Stevan Hristić” in Bačka Palanka, where she took her first musical steps. Even today, she transfers her immense love for music and her instrument to her students, who have always been her greatest motivation and inexhaustible inspiration in her work. Her students are winners of the highest prizes at national and international competitions, where they often receive the laureate’s title. She received many awards for exceptional results in the field of music pedagogy and was declared the best pedagogue at national and international competitions, where she is often present as a member of the jury (Flutist Competition “Josip Slavenski” – Belgrade, International Meetings of Flutists Tahir Kulenović” – Valjevo, “Kosta Manojlović” Memorial – Smederevska Palanka, Republic Competition ZMBŠS, International Festival “Polyhymnia” – Skopje (Macedonia) She is a lecturer at seminars and events dedicated to the flute.

From 2005 to 2007, she was an expert associate at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, in the class of prof. Laura Levai Aksin.

She has been employed as a flute teacher at the „Josip Slavenski” Music School in Novi Sad since January 2011. In February 2020, she obtained the title of pedagogical advisor.

In the period from 2017 to 2021, she was an advisor – external associate for music classes in the School Administration of Novi Sad, selected at the competition of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development.

In October 2021, she was elected president of the Vojvodina Professional Flute Commission.

She is the founder of the Music Centre „ORFEJ“  in Novi Sad, within which, in addition to numerous music workshops, she has been directing the children’s choir of the same name for thirteen years. Boundless love for life’s vocation and children were the reason for the creation of her author’s children’s compositions (“Sara Kej”, “Svi smo mi isti”, “Himna Orfeja”, “Kad je srce lјubavi puno”  i “Uspavanka za mamino zlato”).

She is the author of the manual “Musical Suitcase” (Muzičko koferče), which is based on the integrative principle in teaching and intended for children of early school age and the preparatory class of a music school.

She is the founder of the cultural and educational event for flutists FLART and a lecturer at the winter and summer flute schools of the same name, which have been held since 2019. She is the organizer of an accredited professional conference for flautists with international participation called „FLART Eduka“.

She is the winner of the “Best teacher of the former Yugoslavia” award.
