Jelena Valković

Jelena Valković is a graduate of the class of prof. Pierre Yves – Artaud. During her studies she had many solo concerts and remarkable performances in various chamber music ensembles. Since 2005 she has been teaching and working as a flute teacher at the Zlatko Grgošević Music School in Sesvete. She is dedicated to her work and achieves excellent results with her students. In 2017 she was appointed mentor and in 2022 advisor.

In the 19 years she has been working with her students, she has won more than 70 prizes in competitions, many of them first places, and 18 prize titles or category winners. In her work, she uses the knowledge of piano playing and reaches the totality of music making with her students in every lesson. Since 2019 – 2022 she is the head of the inter-county expert councils, the Agency for Education in the Republic of Croatia and a member of the board of the Croatian Flute Society. Through her work as director of teacher training and her membership in the Society, she has participated in or organized many events for flutists. Worth mentioning are the International Flute Aurea Competition 2021, the First Croatian Flute Meeting 2021, seminars and lectures, collaboration with eminent professors such as Phillipe Bernold, Jan Ostry, Ian Clarke, Birgit Ramsl – Gall, Andras Adorjan, Carlo Jans, Rachel Brown, Wally. Hase, Mario Caroli, Matej Zupan, Matjaž Debeljak, Marko Zupan, Ana Domančić, Aleksandar Burkert, Renata Penezić, Marina Novak, Karolina Šantl Zupan, Marijana Josipović Mirković and many others.

As part of her professional activities, she was involved in choral singing (Choir “Ina”, PHPD “Zora”, Parish Choir of the Good Shepherd, Brstje), folklore singing (Klapa Gajeta, KUD Staro Brestje), work with children’s choirs (Children’s Choir Mali Sesvećani, Children’s and Youth Choir Allegro) and as a beginner solfeggio teacher.

Her work explores the ways and methods of children’s learning and publishes educational materials for gifted students and those with learning difficulties. She was a jury member at the competitions for young flutists “Mladi Padovec” in Novi Marof and Woodwind & Brass in Varaždin, Croatia, “Davorin Jenko” and “Miodrag Azanjac” in Belgrade, Serbia. She actively plays in various chamber music ensembles at Zlatko Grgošević Music School and as a soloist in many school projects. She is a proud mother of three children!
