Bio

Ivana Popovic

Ivana Popović was born in Belgrade, in 1978. She attended music elementary and highschool “Dr Vojislav Vučković”, both under the mentorship of prof. Mirjana Savić. As a student, she competed and won many prizes in numerous republic and international competitions.

At 17 years old, she enrolled in the Montenegro Music Academy, under the mentorship of prof. Ljubiša Jovanović. She proceeded to compete in many republic and international competitions, both as a soloist and in chamber orchestras. 

In Bari (Italy), her first year in Music Academy, she had a chance to perform the premiere piece “Leave me alone” by Senad Gavčević, who was, at the time, a dean at Montenegro Music Academy.

During her years at the Academy, she attended masterclasses with many world-famous professors, such as Michel Debost, Caitlyn Chestin, Jànos Bàlint and more.

In 2001. she started her career as a professor in Belgrade, in music school “Dr Vojislav Vučković”.

In 2002. and 2003, with her colleague prof. Ljubiša Jovanović, she taught at music camps in Sremska Mitrovica and Arandjelovac.

In 2002. she was a part of the project called “Mali orkestar (Little orchestra)”, which was founded by many students of different generations, who attended the school “Dr Vojislav Vučković”. She played author music by prof. Zoran Petrović which was inspired by poetry of Duško Radović and Ljubivoje Ršumović. In the same year, she participated in the recording of a CD in Studio 6 Radio Belgrade.

She was head of the wind section in “Dr Vojislav Vučković” for 10 years, from 2007. to 2017.

Aside from performing in many concerts in concert halls in Belgrade and all over the country, her students have won over 70 prizes all together, in both republic and international competitions. Many of them have successfully continued their music education.

She was a part of the Flute Choir with prof. Ljubiša Jovanović and Emmanuel Pahud, in Sava Centar hall.

From 2011. to 2016. she was a member of a chamber orchestra “Lola klasik”, which was founded and is still managed by prof. Ljubiša Jovanović.
