Iva Lubomirova

Iva Lubomirova, born in 1975 in Sofia, Bulgaria, started playing the flute at the age of seven. She made her debut as a soloist at the age of fourteen with the Bulgarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Her international career started in the same year with a debut recital in Belgrade, Serbia. In the years to follow Iva Lubomirova established herself as one of the most prominent young talents of Bulgarian classical music by winning numerous national and international competitions and awards. Amongst them she counts the award for best young musician at the International Radio Competition for Eastern Europe. After graduating from State Musical Academy in Sofia in the class of Prof.G.Spassov with a first class BA degree, she further specialized in United States with Prof.James Walker in Los Angeles,Calefornia and with Prof.Jil Felber in Sante Barbara,California. At the same time she became the winner of a full assistantship and scholarship at the Southern Illinois University in the class of Prof.Susanne Lord. Amongst her concert achievements during that time is the first prize, which she won at the St.Louis Flute Association Competition for the performance of a French author.                                                                                  

In 2000 she returned to Europe to continue her studies at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, Germany in the class of Prof.G.Ott. In 2002 she graduates from the Music Hochschule Winterthur Zurich,Switzerland with Konzertdiplom(Masters Degree) in the classes of Prof.G.Rumpel(flute) and Prof.J.Rosset(Piccolo). In 2001  she was the winner of the prestigious Bruno Schuler Stiftung Award in Zurich.                           

Over the years she has participated in master classes with several of the world‘s leading flute players including Andras Adorjan, Emmanuel Pahud, Patrick Galoa and Philipe Bernold. 

Iva Lubomirova has performed a large number of solo recitals and has been a soloist with various symphonic and chamber orchestras across Europe,North America and Latin America. At the age of twenty she was invited and tool the position of Principal Flute at the Symphony Orchestra Monterrey in Mexico.She has since held several further positions of Principal Flute at various orchestras such as Junge Europa Philharmonie(Germany), New Symphony Orchestra(Sofia), Amadeus Orchestra(Sofia), Simfonieta Orchestra(Sofia) and Bulgarian Festival Orchestra(Sofia). 

 She is a regular participant in the international music festivals.

Parallel to her concert career she has in recent years established herself as one of the leading flute teachers in Bulgaria. In 2005 she accepted a permanent teaching position at the National Music College L.Pipkov in Sofia, which she continues at present. 

Iva Lubomirova is Assistant Professor at the National Academy of Music Prof. Pancho Vladigerov – Sofia and she holds Ph.D degree in music Arts.
