Aleksandra Horvat

Aleksandra Horvat started playing the flute in her hometown Zrenjanin, where she finished also secondary Music School “Josif Marinković”. She continued her musical education at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Serbia in the class of Prof. Marian Egić. During her studies, she played at several festivals, took part in some flute competitions and attended numerous masterclasses, led by Irena Grafenauer, Sophie Cherrier, Felix Renggli, János Bálint, Christine Gangelhoff and others. She won an award for being the most successful flute professor on several occasions: in 2016 – at “ Lady Wind International Festival” in Pančevo, in 2017 – at “ FEMUS International Music Festival” in Subotica, in 2020 – “22nd International Flutists Meetings Tahir Kulenović” in Valjevo. Her students have also participated in several competitions in Serbia and abroad and have achieved significant results. Aleksandra has performed at many concerts, both as a solo musician and as a member of different chamber and flute groups. With a pianist Saša Svijić, she currently performs at a series of concerts named “With the sound of flute and piano through creation of national music” (Zrenjanin, Novi Sad, Kula, Bečej and Sremska Mitrovica). Her repertoire includes works of international composers from all music periods, from Baroque through Classical, Romantic to Contemporary, as well as many Serbian composers. Since 2000, she has been working as a professor of flute and chamber music at “Isidor Bajić” Music School in Novi Sad.
