Laura Levai Aksin

Laura Levai Aksin, Born in Subotica, our renowned flutist is currently a full professor at the Academy of Arts of the University of Novi Sad and a solo flutist of the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra. She graduated and got her MA degree from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad in the class of Prof. Marijan Egić. She continued her studies in Paris, in classes held by Prof. Patrick Galois and Prof. Claude Lefebvre and graduated them with ”1er prix de superieur” and ”1er prix d’exellence a l’ unanimite du jury” awards. Laura also attended a number of master classes held by renowned soloists and pedagogues, such as Aurele Nicolet and Jacques Castagnet. She is the winner of first and special prizes at republic and federal competitions and she was also rewarded at the Competition of Music Artists of Yugoslavia in Zagreb. At the 6th International Composers Review in Belgrade, she won the first prize for interpretation of contemporary works. As soloist, she has performed with many symphony and chamber orchestras in the country and abroad. She also held many recitals and chamber concerts in the former Yugoslav countries, as well as in France, Belgium, Great Britain, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Russia, Portugal, Greece, Israel and Spain.

Laura Levai Aksin has performed at many renowned art events such as NOMUS Festival, BEMUS Festival, Zagreb Music Biennale, Yugoslav Composers Review in Opatija, music Festivals in Subotica and Sombor, summer festivals in Herceg Novi, Budva, (City Theatre) and Kotor, Flute Festival in Belgrade and Belgrade Summer Festival. She also performed in Zagreb (Europhonia), Turin (Sabato Serra), on Festivals in France (Paris, Avignon), Patras and Aphitos (Greece), Festival of Contemporary Art in Berlin, Festival of European avant-garde in Leipzig, flute festivals in Bekes (Hungary) and Zagorje ob Sava (Slovenia), Days of New Music in Split, Youth Music Summer Academy (YMSA) in Debrecen (Hungary) and the Croatian Flute Academy in Karlovac.

Laura Levai Aksin is a solo flutist of Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra and she also played at the same position in the Opera Orchestra of the Serbian National Theatre, Camerata Academica chamber orchestra (Novi Sad) and Musica Viva ensemble for new music. During her stay in France, she was a member of Tickmayer Formatio and Theatre Jel ensembles as well as of the Orleans Flute Orchestra. Currently, she is a member of Ensemble NS Chamber, duet with a guitar player Zoran Krajišnik, Density Flute Trio, Synergia 5 wind quintet. Laura Levai Aksin made recordings for many radio and television centres in the region, including Hungarian TV, Czech RTV, RTV Dortmund, and RAI. She has recorded CDs for Recommended Records and SLAM Production from Great Britain, EOS from Austria, Visio Mundi and SKC from Novi Sad, etc.

Laura is involved in teaching as a full professor of flute at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad and she was teaching for years at the Academy of Arts in Banjaluka. She has held a large number of master classes and as a jury member, she is present at international and national competitions and festivals.
